HRSMN – This Sh*t Right Here – Official Video

hrsmnthumbOne of the original supergroups has reunited for the new video/single “This Shit Right Here,” featured on Ras Kass’s “A.D.I.D.A.S.” album.  This is the first collaboration in a few years between Ras Kass, Killah Priest, Canibus, and Kurupt – and it’s a memorable one.  The video balances the member’s original “characters” (pestilence, death, war, famine) with lyrical references, and the result is a mix of gothic and contemporary horror. No surprise, as it’s another typically macabre outing from the Horsemen.  The HRSMN ride again! Get ADIDAS @ http://raskass.bandcamp.com Read the rest of this entry »

“Goldyn Chyld II” Official Music Video

gc2vidMore content for our “A.D.I.D.A.S.” pre-release marketing blitz – the official video of the aforementioned “Goldyn Chyld II” single. Director Jason Espat and director of photography Rusty Rayburn gave me some outstanding footage to work with, and the multiple settings add a great dynamic to the video as well. The design elements were a natural fit – I wanted the entire video to appear “awash” in gold. This is the second video release off the “A.D.I.D.A.S.” album, and fans can expect more to come shortly. Electrolightz “Techno Jeep” Remix

jeepthumbAnother under-the-radar banger from the Electrolightz! Here, they’ve gotten ahold of Julian Smith’s viral sensation “Techno Jeep.”  Unsurprisingly, NameBrand destroys the beat with a couple verses. This was a low-tech outing for me – just some creative placement of footage -  but the showcase here without question is NameBrand’s performance.

Anyhow, the Electrolightz are all over the map these days, so be sure to keep track of them online. Click through to view the “Techno Jeep” remix. Read the rest of this entry »

Ras Kass & Royce Da 5′9″ – “Attitudes 2012″ Video & Single

att_thumbAnother A.D.I.D.A.S. appetizer – this time with Slaughterhouse’s own Royce Da 5′9″ joining Ras on the track. “Attitudes 2012″ is an update to Rumpletilskinz’ 1993 classic, and is produced by C SIK and Sick Jacken – just some of the many contributors to the forthcoming A.D.I.D.A.S. album. As you can see, the video is a walking copyright infringement case…with flashes of “Predator,” “Psycho,” and “Full Metal Jacket,” the video a crude, angry mix of photos, movie clips, and Ras’s personal flipcam footage. Keep an eye out for cameos by the likes of KRS-One, Xzibit, Taje, Canibus, 40 Glocc, Chuck D Read the rest of this entry »

chosenthumbHere’s a group I’m looking forward to future projects with, having been brought into the fold by the human Swiss Army knife himself, Donnie Bo Sibley of Avatar Management. For starters, this is just a quick branding bumper to be attached to future projects.  If you’re not familar yet with Those Chosen, here’s the story:

THOSE CHOSEN- an avant garde hip-hop group known for their street influenced, politically fueled, spiritual lyricism consists of Japetto, Kornbread Read the rest of this entry »

dilatedMany were on hand last Wednesday at the Highlands in Hollywood, to pay tribute to Deshaun “Proof” Holton, on the fourth anniversary of his death. The performance line-up was a who’s-who of West Coast hip-hop icons, including Chino XL, Ras Kass, Dilated Peoples, Planet Asia, Alchemist, and Defari.  All proceeds were donated to Proof’s surviving family members.  The first video below catches Ras Kass addressing the crowd before launching into a performance of “Ghetto Fabulous,” followed by Evidence, Rakaa, and Babu taking the stage for “Worst Comes to Worst.” Read the rest of this entry »

proofthumb Caught up with Re-Up Entertainment family LVNPROOF last Friday, following Ras Kass’ performance at Malone’s in Newport Beach. After taking the stage, LVNPROOF took time out to speak on Guerilla Press, Jay 211, and the rest of the Re-Up family tree.

Already a veteran of film and television (ER, The Shield, Gridiron Gang, Cold Case, The Closer), Proof has been just as busy on screen as he’s been on the mic. You can catch him on tonight’s episode of “Criminal Minds” on CBS! Read the rest of this entry »

Electrolightz – “Superfan” video

superfanthbHere’s the long-awaited debut of the Electrolightz’ “Superfan” music video. The footage was shot by Eroc, and edited by myself (with the help of some After Effects projects for the extra dynamics). The video has a fun concept – a “superfan” stalking NameBrand and Rami Dearest, and fantasizing about the group after constructing her Wall of Crazy. It’s yet another catchy single from the Electrolightz, and for those interested in more, you can download a free copy of their “Electronightz” mixtape here. You Don’t have to be faster than the bear…

strkthumbHere’s the official release of the “Save the Ras Kass” trailer, for the upcoming webisode series. My primary goal for the trailer was to promote the underlying theme of our “Endangered Lyricist” campaign: survival. The trailer is a contemporary nightmare of war, unrest, and economic ruin – signifying here the devaluation of art. The webisode series will contain all-original footage, but I’ve pillaged near and far in compiling the trailer. Fans of Chris Smith’s recent documentary “Collapse” will recognize sampling of riot footage, as well as Michael Ruppert’s ominous warnings (”Evolve or perish, grow up or die”).
