Here goes an appetizer for Ras Kass fans, as we gear up for the release of the forthcoming “A.D.I.D.A.S.” album. “Release Yourself” is a stand-alone single that will not appear on the official album. Nonetheless, DJ Rhettmatic is behind the boards for the new single, as he will be for several tracks on “A.D.I.D.A.S.” Other big-name producers to expect are The Alchemist, DJ Babu, and Mr. Porter – as well as guest appearances by Jean Grae, Royce Da 5′9″, Strong Arm Steady, Evidence, Fashawn, Planet Asia, and Chino XL. Stay tuned for the “Goldyn Chyld II” video release, as well as a limited-edition vinyl release….more new music and artwork on the way! Read the rest of this entry »

Many were on hand last Wednesday at the Highlands in Hollywood, to pay tribute to Deshaun “Proof” Holton, on the fourth anniversary of his death. The performance line-up was a who’s-who of West Coast hip-hop icons, including Chino XL, Ras Kass, Dilated Peoples, Planet Asia, Alchemist, and Defari. All proceeds were donated to Proof’s surviving family members. The first video below catches Ras Kass addressing the crowd before launching into a performance of “Ghetto Fabulous,” followed by Evidence, Rakaa, and Babu taking the stage for “Worst Comes to Worst.” Read the rest of this entry »

While he wasn’t busy serving Tequila to unsuspecting party-goers, Bill Murray took a break to catch the Electrolightz’ performance at the SXSW festival. Something tells me I need to make it to Austin next year, and finally catch one of these events! The E-lightz have been all over the map these days, and are scheduled to appear at University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMASS) on April 25th, alongside Ludacris, New Found Glory, and LMFAO. In the meantime, you can keep tabs on the Electrolightz here, for news, music, and videos… Read the rest of this entry »

Attached below is my poster submission to the makers of “The Last Rites or Ransom Pride.” The indie western has developed quite a buzz in the past couple months, thanks in part to a creative web campaign. Recently, the “Last Rites” crew reached out for content development – songs, iPhone apps, T-shirts, comic books, and of course, movie posters. Scheduled for release this coming April, “The Last Rites of Ransom Pride” stars Lizzy Caplan, Kris Kristofferson, Scott Speedman, Dwight Yoakam, Jason Priestley, and Peter Dinklage. More endorsements for GuerillaPress.net, this time from model/actress/singer Somaya Reece. Not only has Somaya established herself as a fixture in the world of hip-hop videos, she’s appeared on the big (and small) screen in “Entourage,” “The Scorpion King,” and “American Psycho.” Just through with wrapping yet another music video shoot, Somaya dropped in to leave a quick message. Seen here in just one the day’s many costumes, Somaya fans can catch her soon in Ras Kass’s “Since You Been Gone” video. Rumor has it there was an eyepatch involved as well. I don’t normally touch on news or current events, but this is simply too amazing to ignore. In yet another terrifying account of opulence gone wrong, nearly 400 sharks were unleashed on unsuspecting mall patrons yesterday, along with 10 million gallons of water. No, this isn’t a story-line for the coolest movie *EVER* but in fact, the news of what happened in the Dubai Mall when a massive, indoor aquarium burst. No fatalities were reported, but I’m sure the inevitable screenplay will take care of that.

“With anything new, there are some people who will misinterpret. And then there are some who are just plain old haters!” So says Ras Kass in his video-blog to clarify the ADIDAS project and the Kickstarter campaign. Due to typically brain-dead net reaction to the Kickstarter concept, Ras decided to deliver his blog “press conference style,” a la Tiger Woods. In the video, Ras also reveals that ADIDAS will feature guest appearances by Xzibit, Jean Grae, Sean Price (and more), as well as high caliber production from the likes of Alchemist and Mr. Porter. Watch the video for all the details. Pre-order Read the rest of this entry »

Never a dull moment at GuerillaPress, as my various adventures often lead to the unexpected…take for instance this meeting with former WBO Heavyweight Champion “Relentless” Lamon Brewster, at a time when I’d normally be falling asleep on the couch watching shark attack videos. The last man to knockout Wladimir Klitschko (or even defeat him), Mr. Brewster was good enough to take a moment and say hello to the GuerillaPress Network.

More exciting news out of the Electrolightz camp, with the release of their brand new mixtape “Electronightz.” Hosted by the mixtape icons L.A.
