gc2thumbArtwork for the Limited Edition vinyl of the Goldyn Chyld II single (featuring DJ Rhettmatic, and produced by Leaf). Billed as a “Double A-Side,” the  12″ vinyl also includes the much talked-about “Save the Ras Kass” single. Both will be available on the upcoming “ADIDAS” album, scheduled for release on July 20th. For some added flare, the actual vinyl was pressed on translucent “gold” plastic. Gotta love the branding synergy, with Ras sporting the official Goldyn Chyld T-Shirt as well (also available). Ras Kass & Royce Da 5′9″ – “Attitudes 2012″ Video & Single

att_thumbAnother A.D.I.D.A.S. appetizer – this time with Slaughterhouse’s own Royce Da 5′9″ joining Ras on the track. “Attitudes 2012″ is an update to Rumpletilskinz’ 1993 classic, and is produced by C SIK and Sick Jacken – just some of the many contributors to the forthcoming A.D.I.D.A.S. album. As you can see, the video is a walking copyright infringement case…with flashes of “Predator,” “Psycho,” and “Full Metal Jacket,” the video a crude, angry mix of photos, movie clips, and Ras’s personal flipcam footage. Keep an eye out for cameos by the likes of KRS-One, Xzibit, Taje, Canibus, 40 Glocc, Chuck D Read the rest of this entry »

Little Jinder “Youth Blood” (12th Planet remix featuring Ras Kass)

jinderthumbEveryone knows I prefer zombies over vampires. I mean, no pun intended, but the current vampire media-siege generally sucks. Socially awkward adults began reading novels intended for 14 year-old girls, and before long, two slouching goons from “Twilight” were presenting a tribute to horror films at the Academy Awards. Horror, indeed. To be fair though, it hasn’t been ALL bad. First I began to enjoy the campy and trashy qualities of “True Blood,” and now there’s the latest offering from Little Jinder. The Swedish trip-hop sensation has teamed up with DJ 12th Planet and Ras Kass, for a remix of her Read the rest of this entry »

anotherday
Cover art for “Another Day,” the debut album from LA-based rock band Aperfectworld.

The dominating imagery for the album jacket is taken from surgeon William Cheselden’s illustrated manual, Osteographia or the Anatomy of Bones, originally published in 1733.  Public domain is a beautiful thing, really.  The selection of the cover image inspired a pervasive theme, and the haunting illustrations lent themselves nicely to the musical content. Coonskin3

Having retired the old Guerilla Press format, I owe a debt of gratitude to one Brother Abdul Rahim – known in previous incarnations as Block, Catfish & Grits, The Goddamn Hog Butcher, and Cream Abdul Babar.

In addition to waging battle with me for The Most Honorable Rib Plate, and authoring the funniest Myspace bulletin ever, the good Brother was kind enough to compose the Guerilla Press theme music. Read the rest of this entry »
